We've arrived

All went well with our flights in getting to Okinawa. All I can say about the flight: LONG! BUT, we are here.

First impressions on returning:
1. It's warm and muggy!!!
2. Did I really drive comfortably over here?
3. A lot has changed in 12 years, like many new buildings, more land added to make the island bigger, new roads (here, when you run out of land, you take a mountain, put it in the water and then build on it.)
4. A bit nostalgic... lots hasn't changed, and it's fun to remember and tell stories to the kids.

Mike had an interesting conversation with some older Japanese men while Jonathan and he stood around with them slurping soba noodles at the Tokyo airport. Jonathan said, "I didn't know dad knew that much Japanese." It was a very basic and rough Japanese converstion, but the men enjoyed Mike's efforts.

We woke to churping this morning..., but not from birds, Geckos. They are good to have because they eat roaches. I'd rather have geckos in the house than roaches. I only heard one. :)

Gotta get unpacked and ready to go. Our first meeting is today about our day-camp responsibilities.

  1. We are glad that you got there safely. Your car got home safely, just so that you know. Have a good time and do good works.
